I am an ancient pensioner and I hope you are right. Historically social housing has never caught up with the demand and as we do not have the necessary qualified building workers it is unlikely to be so in the future. So private rents will remain high and volatile to Trump like landlords.

Yes I got that part wrong and am very happy that I am wrong. However from what my non legal mind understands it does very little to curb private sector rent rises, the private sector being the biggest rental sector and the most immoral profit taking sector.

Labour have done nothing for renters. Manifesto promised immediate removal of Section 21 -to date Starmer has not even mentioned it. They have not frozen or limited the amount rents can increase by allowing huge hikes in rent in most places.

Not quite true. A few Roman leaders didn’t do so well. Rome had three leaders in one year, the first two not lasting three months. The last emperor managed many years but he was careful to consider other people, not just his image.

Then you and your colleagues need to do a far better job supporting ordinary voters and stop supporting legislation and tax regimes that make the top 2% better off so that they can then use their windfall to support Reform and its anti people policies
