I love the PNW and Seattle and Portland are great, unique cities of the world. But when your Dad takes you to Ram and Dodger games starting when you were a kid 60 years ago, it's hard to give up on your teams. Go Rams! Whichever team wins, there is a lot of history if they play New England in SB60.

I remember watching his commercials for Progressive while he was still in Cleveland and thinking "what a likeable guy - too bad he's not a better quarterback'. He seems to be only about average over the years.

We really have a hard time understanding that mindset, because we DO have empathy, and we approach politics as a problem solving process. Right wingers across all countries, cultures and religion are fueled by hatred and resentment, that can never by satisfied. There's a new enemy every morning.

Certainly there are other cultural factors involved, but to say that conflicts between Jews, Muslims and Christians around the world has nothing to do with religion sounds just bizarre.

As a long time atheist, I've always felt a sense of despair about the situation in the Middle East - irreconcilable differences between two religions. So much bloodshed! My admittedly foolish solution? Israel should buy up and then relocate to Wyoming. Just leave on better terms.

As a political junkie, I knew Mullin as an unusually dumb Representative from the lost state of Oklahoma. But who follows senate races in deep red states? Now, "all of a sudden" I see him everywhere as the dumb Senator from that state.

Do this through the tax code. Owner-occupied have certain write-offs/obligations. Small scale landlords have different write-offs/obligations. The house buying equity industry has still more specific write-offs/obligations - If you want to be in that business, you will be treated that way.

I think matter-of-fact descriptions of their moral and political positions is a very effective way to inform the listener, a variation of the frog/scorpion story. Make it about them! AOC is very good at this.

When you are a senior, and can find someone with similar tastes, you can usually do just fine splitting a BLT, Philly, pastrami, burger, etc, with fries and a salad, and feel just fine afterward. Hard to even imagine eating like we did 20 years ago.

I think we (including Walz) were caught somewhat off guard. Trump was a well known entity, and prone to foolish gaffs and obvious lies, Harris was quite good. Vance has a polished right wing talking points style, tougher to "debate". The best way to deal with Vance is that he's an obvious fraud.

All these different religions, or sects of religions, have days where you can't eat or wear or say certain things. They fight each other sometimes fiercely, within and outside their own religions, all over the world, seemingly all the time. If we're to move forward, can you just stop? Just. Stop.
