I want to live in a Toronto that can support a paper like The Grind.

Because a city that can sustain local indie media is a city that can be shaped by local indie media.

Help The Grind reach our summer fundraising goal!
thegrindto.bsky.social
We've been so busy publishing this summer that we didn't push our fundraising campaign, and the season is almost wrapped! Can you chip in so The Grind can keep putting out hard-hitting stories in Toronto?

Support here: www.thegrindmag.ca/support-the-...
A graphic reading "The Grind's summer fundraising goal is $7,000. Help us reach it by Sept 21. Keep local, independent journalism alive in Toronto! thegrindmag.ca/support " And there is a red and green progress bar showing $1,500 of the way to $7,000.

Canada’s “elbows up” plan for asserting sovereignty looks less like defending against American aggression and more like doubling down on the denial of Indigenous rights in the service of short-term economic gain.

Canada’s “elbows up” nationalism may look like resistance to Trump, but it risks repeating the colonial violence it claims to oppose. Ellen Gabriel and @seancarleton.bsky.social warn that patriotism built on erasing Indigenous struggles makes real reconciliation impossible.

A necessary book for our times.

A quote by Richard Falk, against a beige background with white quotes and parantheses, big, surrounding and a small diagonal book cover in the corner. The quote says: ""I have read many discerning and moving books on Palestine over the last fift years but none has spoken to me as forcefully and persuasively as this short volume of opinion pieces written by Haidar Eid from 2009 to the present. The prophetic insight of these dispatches and their cumulative impact offer readers a vivid Palestinian narrative of tragic suffering and the heroic resistance of the Gazan population to Israel's occupation, settler colonialism, apartheid, and genocide." —Richard Falk, Former UN Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in the Palestinian Territories Occupied since 1967
