I got oral feedback from the students on perceived efficacy and feedback compared to my usual slide decks. The universal comment was that the AI was too broad and generalized.

I went in and then edited the slides to reflect my usual level of depth. It would have been faster to build from scratch.

I did a little impromptu test by letting the AI generate the slide deck for my AI lecture. I gave it a prompt telling it what chapter to summarize, what content to focus on, and what conclusion to reach. I presented the AI slides in lecture (using it as an example).

We teach that AI can be a useful tool to automate tasks, and that human interaction is required for AI to work properly…but do we discuss the level of intervention? At what point does the amount of intervention required counteracts AI’s usefulness?
