“Clarity doesn’t mean aiming or hoping for perfection. It means dealing with the messiness…the contrasting pull for status and contentment”. I feel like school leaders know this battle intimately @stevemagness.bsky.social #WinTheInsideGame #HISDAdminChat

Great questions that I don’t have complete answers for, or wish I had better ones. The expediency of using averages is (unfortunately) appealing due to the mountain of competing tasks teachers have to manage. Removing grades is possible, but other asks need to be removed as well. #sunchat

This is spot on @gastoncindy.bsky.social; it often feels like the task is Herculean to maintain the balance between meeting ‘expectations’ while ensuring the magic is happening on our campus.
I’m wrestling with the balance between engaging reading instruction/magical learning and the need for kids to perform well on the (too numerous) standardized tests. I want more magic, but we also have to keep scores up to be allowed to keep doing the magic! #leadlap
Question 1 is up! New to chatting? Answer with A1: then your answer and don’t forget to add #leadlap

I began to rethink how we’ve historically practiced grading many years ago after reading a piece by Ken O’Connor; it demonstrated the dangers of using averages. Seems like it obscures the value of our paths to mastery. #UngradingChat #SkyEdu
Good morning! Q2: What was your entry point into shifting your assessment practices? #UngradingChat
