With Canada voting in the US elections, the GOP likely will lose any future dominance in any branch of government.
I suspect Trump intended to make Canada a US territory with none of the representative benefits afforded to a State, e.g. D.C., Puerto Rico, American Samoa, etc.

I have re-tallied the Electoral College results based on The US forcefully overtaking Canada and making it the 51st State ... and the hindsight-looking result for 2024 would have been 282-256 (vs 316-222). Trump might still have won, but the margin just got a lot tighter.

With re-tallying the Electoral College representation for the States based on population counts, we find thirty states losing votes (e.g., California and Texas), with the only 'state' gaining votes being Canada (i.e., 46 votes).

Making Canada a state (vs a territory) would immediately entitle Canada to voting representation in the Electoral College. This would also require recalculating representative counts for each state for 'balanced' representation among the 435 votes. ...

Canada has a population similar to California, i.e., they both have about 40 million people each. Canada (as a whole) is not a fan of Trump nor his policies, ensuring a state similar in politics to California. ...
