Absolutely shocking to me that more DHS agents haven’t been killed. Unmarked cars, no ID, no warrants, no real police tactics or training. Incredible more people aren’t defending themselves against what appear to be everyday criminals.

Pretty much, same idea as bad teams signing good relievers though maybe a bit more production and a bit more risk.

I’d argue top 2 or 3! But I respect you make these lists with some actual thought and opinion. Too often they’re just solely recent stats, or they’re purposely made with a couple weird things just to get people arguing.

Yikes, excluding catchers, Varsho has probably been the best defender on a rate basis in the past few years. Can’t see him just being on the ‘just missed’ list. Availability matters but shouldn’t really discount him on a list like this.
January 31, 2026 at 1:16 AM
lol yep, ‘it’s a lie, I wasn’t planning to go in 2014!’ (*hopes they don’t ask about 2013, when he was planning to go*)
January 30, 2026 at 8:42 PM
What we think should be true and what is actually true is not the same thing. Which should be obvious by the enormous proportion of people who vote for the same party at all levels of government for most of their adult lives. ‘Understanding the issues’ voters barely exist outside municipal elections

Don’t underestimate your writing ability! It has noticeably improved in recent years, and I think it was always better than you give yourself credit for. Maybe I’m nerdier than the general audience, but the ‘long tail’ explanation of O’s disproportionate playoff improvement was easy to understand.
January 29, 2026 at 11:34 PM
If you feel like doing some fan service, Jays fans have been endlessly debating if the team improves more with Bichette or Tucker (pretty sure it’s Tucker by more than a little). Honestly not sure I even want to see those odds with Tucker, it’ll be too painful!

Go back to 1995?
January 29, 2026 at 11:24 PM
Yep, to see any differences being not just mocked but completely ostracized is jarring. I’ve read dozens of books out loud to my kids including the entire HP series, and by far the books where I had to cut out the most (including endless paragraphs insulting physical appearances) was this one.

It’s gonna be 39-8
January 27, 2026 at 3:19 AM
Good point, I could’ve gone on and on, but if the author thinks ‘a world where white, black and Asian people all exist’ is peak liberalism, that says more about the author than anything else.
January 26, 2026 at 11:31 PM
Ah yes, when I think of Harry Potter, I definitely think of liberalism, and not that it’s from 25 years ago, written by a transphobe and has some of the most horrific anti-Semitic imagery of any popular media in the last 75 years.

Also, do some googling, find out who they bank with and write to their ombudsman. Banks do not like lending to companies with this kind of negative press or supporting other militaries.
January 26, 2026 at 6:59 PM
But definitely not Miller, Bovino or Trump himself who’ve said the same lies of course.
January 26, 2026 at 6:10 PM
You’re wrong though. In Canada (as in most places), we aren’t ‘obsessed’ with protecting ‘illegal’ immigrants because no one is obsessed with attacking them. You’d be surprised how many friends and neighbours have overstayed visas or not met all terms and are ‘illegal’.
January 24, 2026 at 2:18 PM
I wish that were true, but billionaires are losing money left and right on tariffs and tourism, and not many of them are saying anything. Don’t see why this would be any different.
January 24, 2026 at 3:04 AM
If it was a 416 area code, probably a read person. If it was 647, also likely. 437 is iffy at best and 942 almost certainly a scammer. (This is not science)
January 22, 2026 at 7:09 PM
Would love him, but seems like they’re asking a crazy amount. I mean Peralta is better, but one year basically cost Nimmala and Parker. Hard to rationalize that unless your farm system is truly overflowing.
January 22, 2026 at 3:25 AM
Mets and Dodgers having top-ranked farm teams is just such a perfect encapsulation of why strict caps and floors aren’t going to work nearly as well as people hope. Well-run teams are still going to be well run teams.
January 22, 2026 at 3:22 AM
Yep, this one doesnt take a lot of critical thinking. ‘Paperwork issues’ could definitely need an agent’s help, but not local and federal politician’s assistance. Especially when there isn’t a strict deadline, like a WBC game tomorrow.
January 22, 2026 at 3:10 AM
A 24-year old in high-A who couldn’t get anyone out as a college reliever is not someone I’d have been on the lookout for, but seems to have some real stuff there, will be cool to see if he can get some helium under him to start the year.
January 21, 2026 at 9:13 PM
Call me crazy, but maybe there’s a difference in the responsibilities and expectations for a mayor and for the leader of a federal opposition party.
January 20, 2026 at 5:00 PM
Great updates! Appreciate you using fangraphs projections to backstop opinion and addressing main trade possibilities in Kwan and St Louis. Kwan in particular seems a perfect fit, but likely too expensive. Curious if you have any inside info on how aggressive the Jays were on Bo, or their max offer?
January 20, 2026 at 2:41 PM
Can’t wait to see Republicans stand up to this! I’m sure Vance and Erica Kirk will be first in line to protest this ruling, surely their ‘first amendment’ stands weren’t solely to protect their own hate speech and aggressive politicking on college campuses.
