ICE feels relatively new and not as integrated into our daily lives, we haven't been fed as much propaganda about how important they are, and it's easier to see the horrible shit they do and imagine a (better) world without them. I agree it's worth having the same conversation about cops.

Yes, and it's more than *just* racism. I have young kids and they're being taught that their local cops are good guys here to help you & I was taught the same thing. Its hard to imagine life without cops b/c they're used to fill in so many gaps (crossing guards, mental health professionals, ex).

So I've just had to do a lot of random annoying in-person things lately. Errands, kids to dr, etc.. people have been exceptionally pleasant, funny, and chatty? I'm an introvert but I've been loving my random interactions. I feel like there's something in the air and people are craving comaraderie.

I'm also a 37yo mom of a 6yo. My oldest was a baby during the first Trump admin. I vividly remember sobbing while nursing him bc of the news that ice was ripping away breastfeeding babies from their moms. The pain ripples outwards, and sticks to us in ways we can't understand. Fuck these people.

Not gonna lie. My knee jerk reaction was that some lunatic right winger did this, but I try to keep nonsense in my head. Gotta say that it's easier being mad at the "other side" than accepting the really that shit can just be really horribly sad.

Also, I think most mothers who want/need to use formula would love for researchers to develop better formula, or at least increase safety regulations. It's possible, and worthy of government funding. And actually something brainworm bobby could make happen.
