Red-winged Blackbird female - taken 5.9.25 - Description in alt text
It was another beautiful day, Sunny and wonderful. I spent hours at a local nature center. Lot's of the usual pretty residents! Spotted this RWBB female. Female Red-winged Blackbirds are easily distinguished from males by their muted, streaky brown plumage, resembling a large, dark sparrow. They are stocky and broad-shouldered with a slender, conical bill, and are often confused with sparrows due to their similar appearance.
