Thank you! Miss seeing you at Ent Soc meetings, but I can rarely afford them these days.

So a voluntary pay/donation model necessitates two different versions of the platform? If it is already free, what’s the difference?

I am just being made aware of this. Can’t we have just *one* nice thing?

Bluesky's multi-millionaire CEO changed the site's TOS in order to unban a prominent transphobe. Users have questioned this, and asked for this to be reversed. These requests have been ignored.

Recently, the CEO has replied to Qs - by posting memes and being rude/dismissive.

Sh*t. Why can’t we have nice things?!?

Thank you. I am an Oregon State alum, and attended when we were nearly winless every year, back in the early 1980s. Hell if I want to relive that nightmare. The media giants that drove conference realignment murdered our athletic department.

Dr. Jane Goodall filmed an interview with Netflix in March 2025 that she understood would only be released after her death.

I have not yet encountered the dissatisfaction that you speak of.

This is a great account with original content, featuring a sharp wit that pulls no punches.

I’m thinking about doing Halloween trick or treating as the grand master of Antifa this year.

I should make my kids dress up as ICE agents and chase me.

Thank you for sharing this!

The selfie mode on my iPhone 14 comes in handy for reaching concealed spiders like this Lattice Orbweaver, Araneus thaddeus. Leavenworth, Kansas, USA, October 1, 2025. #Arachtober #spider #spiders #bugsky
Small, globular spider with big, silvery gray abdomen, and orange legs and carapace, sitting just outside her tunnel-like retreat beneath two leaflets of a Black Walnut sapling. Adjacent, barely visible in the lower left corner, is the edge of her orb web.

It's that time of year again: #arachtober! I will try to celebrate as many days as I can. This spider is a Woodlouse Hunter, Dysdera crocata. She has long jaws and only 6 eyes (most spiders have 8). Leavenworth, Kansas, USA, April 28, 2025. #bugsky #spiders
Spider with elliptical shape, long chelicerae attached to nearly circular, chestnut colored cephalothorax. Abdomen gray, legs orange. Sprawling in a casserole dish "studio." The Woodlouse Hunter spider, Dysdera crocata.

Nonfiction. I am vaguely entertaining an idea for a fictional work that might take the form of a play or screenplay. Not a priority at the moment, though.

I was already worried about Greta Thunberg (I still am), and then I learned Dr. Jane Goodall passed away. Not sure if I can deal.

Another scorpion wannabe moth. This one is substantially larger than the one I posted yesterday, and in a different family. Genus Eulithis, in Leavenworth, Kansas, USA, September 30, 2025.
Pale brown moth with abdomen curled like a scorpion’s tail. Triangular wings beige with irregular, widely spaced brown pinstripes. Moth perched on terra cotta colored stucco wall.
