Science fiction, movies, robots, Cambridge-UK based, don't eat nearly as much chocolate as when I first wrote my profile but I do much more sewing.
Reading plan: 100 pages a day for 17 days to finish my older unread anthologies and hardbacks.
(Don't worry, I still have plenty of unread recent books, older trade paperbacks, standard paperbacks, and non-fiction)
(Started separating out new books from 2023 so they don't get lost in the stack)

Also at the dental hygienist I got very self-conscious about my tongue. Am I doing it right? Should it be more attentive, or relaxed? What's the worst thing for your tongue to do? What has it been doing when I wasn't conscious of it? What is professional tongue behaviour at the dentist?

Dental hygienist demonstrated how to use an electric toothbrush: hold still near the gum, slow sweep up the side of the tooth.
When you see people in films grab an electric toothbrush and saw it around, do you go Noooo!
Yes! we have a group! We get very worked up about Love Island! mimes flailing

small thought: it's time to take your weekly blood pressure reading.
BIG THOUGHT: IT'S TIME TO PUT ON ANOTHER JUMPER.

HURRAH for the first morning since Monday, the leaky bathroom floor isn't wet. My draped paper towel conduit is taking the water to a bowl. (Couldn't put a bowl directly under the drip as they land on the curved part of the toilet outflow and roll off behind the loo)
I could do without this.

Found the leak! The ceiling patch has slowly grown. The suspicious toilet floor was ok most of yesterday, but the kitchen paper I put down was soaked through this morning. Dried it up, couldn't see any leak, then dampness bloomed on the paper. It's the clean water into cistern joint. Isolated.
I noticed a damp patch on the bathroom ceiling 20 minutes ago, presumably there is a leak in the shower above (either one-off or slow, not emergency). My (seated quietly) heart rate has been 90-95 since. This is one of my Long Covid symptoms and will probably knacker me for the day. Grrr.

Reposting just in case any of my friends are interested in Incredibly Niche Stickers and would like to follow to avidly await announcements.
(I think they're great, I love the niche, but have no use for stickers)
Perfect timing as Shopify goes down just as I'm ready to make my first Incredibly Niche Sticker set available for sale. Here it is anyway. It's Python Vs The Establishment.

It's the time of year when I have to sweep the hall before changing my duvet cover (no space to flap a duvet around in my small bedroom, and the hall gets full of leaves).

I now want three days spare between now and Tuesday! I've watched all the ThurFriSat films, there's another five today but I'll just see their accompanying shorts and catch up with the features in the week - get on with some other things this afternoon!
Enjoying Sohome Horror Film Festival. Also wishing I had another two days spare between now and Tuesday...

This Thursday the 27th November we kick off our online edition of the festival, Sohome Horror Fest with a masterful night of extraterrorestrial goodness.

Opening the festival is the UK Premiere of Michael Middelkoop’s hilarious alien banger STRAIGHT OUTTA SPACE, preceded by the intense ESCAPE.

Catching up on the bowtie block from last week's quilt class. Pleased with getting my points lined up for the first two. The 3D version (where you can get a finger under each of the four edges of the "knot") is much more fiddly and will take another 2-3 attempts before I properly get the knack.
November 25, 2025 at 8:40 PM
Made it to Quilt Class but just to watch the fiddly block trimming, used too much energy this morning preparing for it. I should rest this afternoon/evening while going OMG OMG I have so much to do before Tuesday.
I was pleased to have finished that Saturday task so quickly but go slow subsequently.

Looking through my periodic health checks to see which ones come up next year. Bowel? Breast? Cervix? Eye? They're in 2-year, 3-year, 5-year repeat cycles.

A day of odd tastes and smells. Didn't swallow my pill in one go, tastes revolting as soon as it starts to dissolve. Cleaned the window and my hands smell of fluid. Lodger laundry liquid smell is filling the house like I can taste it. Trying to override it with artificial flavour in my coffee.

The thing I thought would take a day and a half (to be done by Tuesday) is stalled by not enough information (or not enough confidence to plough ahead regardless). I'll try to make actual progress on a less urgent thing, do more research, and bump the bigger thing to Tuesday week. Always juggling.

Glad I got the fresh pack of teabags from the garage before the rain started tipping down so hard.
