Most chocolate chip recipes say to use softened butter. Resist, beat cold butter. The dough will feel a little denser. Chill the dough after mixing for 15 minutes before dropping onto a cookie sheet. The less the butter melts the puffier and inside- chewy-outside-crispy they will be. Magic!
