English had "ken" until relatively recently - "D'you ken John Peel?" and "beyond mortal ken," that one still in use only in that phrase, except in Scottish English, where I gather it's still common.

It's those godawful novelty shapes they make for holidays - red and green outlines of santa, pink outlines of the easter bunny, orange outlines of pumpkins. All the horror of wagon wheels plus it's irregularly shaped and the colors look like sh!t once cooked.

Sometimes it's insult to injury, like the time the main water main on the major artery we live a block from, burst on our corner and caused a sinkhole that closed the road for 2 days, and the guys repairing it knocked out the FIOS. No water, TV, or internet for ~12 hours.
