It's pretty interesting (and cool) how a lot of early DM band's debuts (US scene, mainly) were basically thrash on methamphetamine, and would evolve their sound on subsequent albums while #Obituary had theirs right from the start.

Probably not, but bad teachers (like any shit authority figure) can do great damage to the people they're supposed to be preparing for the grim, meathook reality of the "real" world.

I've always felt that saying was unfair; I've known a good many amazing teachers during my school days. Unfortunately, I've also met a great number of shit ones as well to which the misinterpretation definitely applies. 🤐

Not to mention it being released on Active Records - they sucked. Zero promotion or proper distribution did them no favors, much like the first 2 Anacrusis albums, as well as Atheist's debut.

The first 3 (no, not talking about 'Concreto') are still amazing, especially ''Demanufacture'. Everything else has been pretty much mid except for 'Mechanize' - i was floored how good it was.
