I love this article where the director, Ryan Coogler, draws parallels between Black Americans and Irish people using music as a way of coping with generational oppression.

In particular, the barn burning music scene where spirits of the past, present, and future are conjured is one of the most moving sequences I've seen in a movie. Colonisation will try to take everything away, but music can still endure and be passed down from generation to generation.
