This guy is a dummy but he’s more right than wrong here.

Seriously weak arm though.

Everything is dumber now.

I realize this isn’t the best example but it still applies.

To give one example of shenanigans at GC, I saw a teenage boy jump off a high point while trying to run towards his parents for a photo and nearly spill over the guard rail. I looked around and it was only visitors. Seeing BS like that used to be rare in the parks.

In Rocky Mountain National Park, it would be unthinkable (at least in previous few years) to not see a couple rangers checking on safety/rule following at popular areas like Bear lake even when it’s 10 degrees F. Not seeing any at Grand Canyon was truly eerie.

Also true at the Grand Canyon. I don’t know what’s normal that park ranger-wise in winter as it was my first visit, but I didn’t see a single ranger at the super popular areas like Mather Point etc. Not one. And I was there for 5 days.

Where is this observed? Is there a site like this in Boulder?

This seems to be a disingenuous interpretation of what Jentleson is saying. He’s obviously not saying to take the midline MAGA view.

I believe some of the anti-vaccine hysteria before Wakefield was also attributed to Russian misinformation campaigns.

Thanks so much.

I’m heading east to stay with other people tonight and tomorrow. I don’t want to get stuck on one of the limited exit routes getting out of town if there is a fire and all hell breaks loose.

I believe Wednesday was only above 60mph for a few hours. It feels like we’re walking into another disaster tomorrow even with a wide scale power shutoff since a chance ignition would be so disastrous. I’m surprised city or Boulder is making a bigger deal out of this but I’m clueless?

Hi Daniel- I’m wondering if you could chime in on relative fire risk in boulder for tomorrows wind event. It seems like it’s going to be considerably worse than Wednesday. Current weather.gov point forecast for boulder showing gusts above 60 mph for 12 hours.

The universe has a fairly nauseating sense of irony given that the utility company is shutting off power tomorrow due to extreme wildfire risk in December.

I like 4 because the city is still the focus and the subway is (literally) just framing.

Recently wrote a letter of recommendation for the best physics undergrad student I’ve seen in years to go study in Europe for grad school. The didn’t even consider studying in the US.

Can you just fail them? I realize it’s a bad omen, but they are also adults. 🤷

Ha. Yes, exactly

Wowza!!! I had no idea.

To be clear, I’m sure pro athletes wind up damaging their body to play the sport they love. But those injuries are usually incidental and people hate seeing athletes get hurt. But with sports like boxing/MMA, football & hockey, injuries are fundamental and violence is what people show up for.

Good question. My sense is fairly rare but I’m not a baseball expert.

Initial read of your phrasing made me think you were saying the pressure from the particles caused the decrease in altitude (which made no sense). Thanks for the thread.

Watched the Dirty Harry 4k the other night. It looks great.

You could make a similar argument for brain damage and football
