turns out my manager wasn’t recommending me for a raise. apparently it actually was something I said.
in other news, hr told him not to worry about what I write here cos no one reads it anyway.

my manager: “you’ve crossed the line this time. i’m going to speak to hr.”

me: not sure what he thinks I’ve finished, but I’ll take that as a positive. perhaps he’s going to recommend me for a raise.

manager: “just link to a blog post.”
me: found one about the best subject lines for email marketing. My ideas:

“trust issues in leadership: when ‘empowerment’ means cc'ing them on everything”
“how to deal with a manager who wants to control everything”

we have a blog. apparently.
for some reason, my manager didn’t like my last post, so I’ve been told I have to try again.
so here’s another haiku about demanding managers:

trust me to lead this.
but copy you on all things.
and think like you would.

we have a blog. apparently.
my manager wants me to tell you about it.
but instead here’s a haiku about demanding managers:

micromanage me,
like a bonsai tree of pain
pruned into madness.

my manager: "this account is for telling people about our website, not your weird thoughts"

and yet here we are

follow for more "weird thoughts"
May 30, 2025 at 3:41 PM
my manager said i need to “refocus on business objectives”

so i spent the afternoon adding the word “synergy” to all my post drafts

i might also start referring to whoopee cushions as “culture-forward engagement assets” and see if anyone notices
May 29, 2025 at 3:41 PM
i've been told to keep things “low-key” for a bit

so i’ve simply renamed my "chaos" folder “admin” and my "fun post ideas" folder "system settings"

my manager: “this can’t happen again”

i’m flattered they assume i could recreate that level of brilliance on demand
May 27, 2025 at 3:09 PM
my manager just sent me an email with the subject line “please come and talk to me”

which i assume means they finally want to hear more about my creative vision

bringing a presentation. and a whoopee cushion.
