Made one of those periscope spectrometers that is a CD shoved in a cereal packet + a thin slit to let in light.
It doesn’t photograph well enough to show the detail, but the difference in the emission spectrum between an ikea led lamp and an old spiral fluoro ‘energy saver’ bulb is wild.

(I’d say ‘blanks’, but they’re really a makerspace-friend’s offcuts, first fished from the plastics bin and then later gifted in bundles when she found out what I was doing. 😅)
