Update (12/11/25) 11:30am: Contact with Benji’s “owner” has finally been made! They told me that their family member, who kept the dog in Rosamond for the last two years, “wasn’t interested in picking him up”, and asked me what was next? I asked for a quick letter to relinquish Benji, so we can

Update (12/9/25) 3:45pm: All contact has been attempted for Benji’s owner. Unfortunately , no one has reached out yet. Luckily, the finder is interested in adopting Benji if they don’t come forward. I will be helping update his chip to his new owner when the time comes.

I sent contact through every possible means (phone, text, etc); and will even send a snail mail later today, to cover all bases.

Update (12/5/25) 11:30am: I accessed the microchip website two days ago, and emailed the only visible name on the site. They contacted me this morning, after finding my email in their junk folder (thank goodness they checked!). They gave me the information for the person that adopted Benji.

because by then it will be 48 hours under their rules without any response; and I would like to do my own “detective work” to hopefully get Benji home sooner, rather than later. Bureaucracy, am I right?! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Update (12/3/25) 5:25pm: “Benji” has a microchip! Unfortunately, the microchip company won’t release the owner information to me because I’m not a 501C3 (apparently, I have to charge people to be legitimate). Calling a supervisor tomorrow,
