Reading about the Dakar rally on Wikipedia and discovered this gem. "In 1971, ex-Cream drummer Ginger Baker [drove] from Algeria to Lagos, Nigeria to set up a recording studio and jam with Fela Kuti." He even meets some Tuareg along the way.
