Not 'better advice' but I have a dual boot setup and sometimes I will boot my physical Linux install through VirtualBox on Windows if I just need to do something quick. A lot of people don't know that's possible.

After looking at the manual in the SDK I think I can make a standalone version that works with flashcarts instead of requiring the IS-AGB-EMULATOR.
It's already in the works.
