I can’t breathe under all this patriarchy.

I can't be the only one who feels Celeste Ng @pronounced-ing.bsky.social book Our Missing Hearts feels more like present day than a dystopian future....

I couldn't underline / highlight this enough. 🛑✋🏼
September 4 is back-to-school time for many children in our municipality, and that means busy crosswalks. When approaching intersections:

• Slow down
• Follow traffic rules
• Be mindful of other road users like cyclists, pedestrians and other vehicles.

Signing off socials for the month of August to sink into summer, quality time and reflections before hitting the ground running again in September.
Until then,

What I am working on: a nuanced inspection of my evangelical-influenced upbringing in a Canadian east coast mega church, how that intermingles with inherited family trauma and the struggle to find an identity as a girl through to adulthood.
A Memoir in Fragements Development — by Amy Grace
I am not the first who has put pen to paper to try to unravel how a religion was interwoven into every aspect of her upbringing and family, and I certainly won’t be the last.

How many stories have we been told over decades and centuries that are steeped and coded with mental illness and neurodivergence? The more I live, the more I feel as if many real-life and Fictional stories and narratives lost their plot before they began.

Only 2 more left to do before I am caught up!!!

Came within a hair's breadth of losing my life or, at best, being severely injured at a local notorious Bedford crosswalk. New life goal: get a traffic stoplight installed. Daily, I watch cars speed through. I only cross when every vehicle is stopped, but after today's events, that's not enough.

Had a small meet up to discuss all things puritey culture and growing up in a mega church. Gave this book away and am ordering a new one so we can all go chapter by chapter together.

Almost a year later: personal reflections from the 2024 Summer Residency.

The true confessional: It's taken me this long to get my shit together and record these thoughts.

Better late than never!

It’s Election Day.
Some fun facts :
- 107 years ago women in Nova Scotia finally got the right to Vote.
- 🇨🇦 has a government system called a Parliamentary System.
- Canadians vote for their Member of Parliament - not the party leader directly.
- However you vote today, keep your stick on the ice.

Almost without fail, walking during a writing day, especially after a writing session, will break open more of the piece I am working on. Something about it unlocks a secret part of my mind, heart and soul connection.

My lent-inspired fast from 'The News' is coming to an end. I plan to return to it more mindfully and meditatively.
I've been working on creating a more sustainable approach. Does anyone else feel that it's important to be mindful of news consumption?

I can tell when I am hitting on my personal trauma in my writing when I spend most of the day pacing and unable to sit with the words too long.
Healing doesn’t come all at once.
It comes in fractals and fragments.

In my newsletter today, I confessed how much I want to leave social media altogether. This feels like an indulgent confession, but admittedly, I truly wish I could embrace that desire without self-doubt.

It’s time you knew…
I am writing a book of essays.
I can promise that it will be a personal deep dive that sheds light on the importance and awareness of individuality, mental health and the quiet damage of an evangelical upbringing.

When I was 10 I mused outloud that there must be at least one four leaf clover in our yard & what a shame that my dad was mowing it away.
My mother scoffed. “those are all three leaf clover.Nothing more.”
I found this one in a race against a lawn mower.
This is your reminder: there is ALWAYS a 🍀.

Solidary to the sisters of all presentations.
Solidarity to the artists who pour out our heart cry in ways just like these.
