I’ve started jumping into shows mid-season, just to see the rest of a clip someone shared.

No context, no backstory. Just a single moment that landed hard enough to pull me in. It's interesting to see streamers go in this direction.

Electric cars are quiet. That’s kind of the point. But how quiet is a design question—and an experience question.

There’s silence, and then there’s intentional sound.

Love this website from NASA: NASA Spin-off catalogs the space technologies that have come to Earth. So many everyday technologies owe their existence to space research.

Lots of New Year's resolution discussions on end of year podcasts I'm listening to. One that stuck with me: instead of "read more books", try "start more books" - you don't have to finish them if you don't get hooked, but you want to meet your goals of reading more.

Is there an atprotocol photo app yet?

The connection between Threads and Instagram (and some cross posting) was interesting. Instagram without ads and reels is what I’m looking for.

One of the interesting things about the continuous scrolling video socials (TikTok/Reels/Shorts) is the cutting of episodes and movies into scene snippets. I’ve thought the streaming apps should figure out a licensing deal for it, that tags the clip with a link to the full thing on their app.

NEXUS/PreCheck/Global Entry really are magic at smaller airports: 7 mins from curb to gate at PDX.
it's $10 a year for a nexus card and that's the best money you can ever spend

at my local airport I can walk from the uber to the gate through security basically without stopping at all

it's magic

The best of the internet has always been about curation—whether it’s your own careful selection or trusting the voices you choose to follow. That’s why RSS feeds had such a devoted following: they handed us the reins, letting us shape our experience around what truly mattered.
December 5, 2024 at 2:39 PM
The beauty of a reverse-chronological feed is its simplicity and authenticity. It’s a design decision that respects your agency, letting you choose who shapes your experience. No middleman algorithm deciding what you "should" see—just a clean, unfiltered pulse of the people and ideas you care about.

I love tent cabins—they’re such a clever use of material and space. The Nokken Softshell takes this idea to another level, combining thoughtful design with just enough luxury to feel special.

In a 1999 interview on BBC Newsnight, David Bowie predicted the internet's transformative effect on society and the arts, comparing it to a "new rock and roll." Worth the watch/listen. His observations about the digital era's possibilities remain strikingly prescient.

This shows exactly why the current stance of big companies that if it’s crawlable on the internet, it’s free to use for training, is wrong.

Bluesky is an open and public social network, much like websites on the Internet itself. Websites can specify whether they consent to outside companies crawling their data with a robots.txt file, and we’re investigating a similar practice here.

The Renndienst concept from Porche is exactly the departure from traditional minivans we need. Porche's design language for an entirely new segment-more seating, more space. In the front, a centrally mounted driver's cockpit, and in the back, open modular lounge for passengers.
