And I won't have to write nearly as many emails, like holy shit

I worked at Lowe's for 11 years previous to this. At some points, it seemed impossible to imagine a worse situation to be in, or a worse place to work. I can at least say that the last 4 years has given me much needed perspective

I feel better knowing that my department will be bigger and more staffed than this entire store and the whole world won't fall apart because 1 person called out. And I won't be expected to try and hold it together myself when it does. A physical outlet for stress helps also

Of course the customers will still be there and I'll have the added responsibility of supervising a department... But I do that here at the store now anyway, without the title to put on my resume

My job now is just my least favorite parts of retail and none of the fun shit. Interacting with customers, keeping track of their projects. Having people assume I know nothing because I happen to be standing at a counter. Now I'll be driving a forklift and hucking bags of mulch, as I should be
