Monopoly was first called The Landlord’s Game, invented by a feminist to critique capitalism and the hoarding of wealth.

But it turns out that with a few rules tweaks, people like the buying/selling of real estate, and lording their wealth over other players.

It makes sense to buy the cheaper version first, to see if it’s something you want to keep! I know I’ve bought the deluxe version of games that
I never got good use out of.

I love the game, but it definitely takes up to 2 hours the first play (I’ve played with 3). Not a super quick game

I like Spirit Island, mostly the process of trying out new spirits. There is a lot of focus on your own stuff instead of collaboration, and I’ve been more interested in direct interaction games recently.

Cascadia is great! Always relaxing, and getting large corridors matters more than you think. I liked the expansion too, but it certainly makes the game more thinky.

Yeah - it’s quite similar! I was excited a few times, because some cards are changed enough that that become viable, when they aren’t so good in the digital version. Have fun!
