Beyond science, Goodall championed hope, reminding us that we hold the power to impact our world.

No matter how dark the situation feels, use Goodall as a reminder that doom and gloom are self-fulfilling prophecies.

Instead, listen to those around you, band together, and take action.

Her storytelling strengthened her efforts to conserve our planet & protect the organisms that share it with us.

We should follow her example as compassionate stewards of our world, continuing her mission of bridging humanity’s relationship with nature.

Dr. Jane Goodall's 2025 Earth Day Message - Jane Goodall's Good for All News
There is one really important message that I want to share on Earth Day 2025: I urge everyone to treat every day of the year as Earth Day. Planet Earth is the only home we shall ever know yet we are r...

But Goodall’s scientific impact extends well beyond her research.

Her incredible ability to tell stories that could capture the hearts and minds of others made her one of the most influential voices in #SciComm ever.

No one understood the importance of scientists engaging in society more than #JaneGoodall.

Though she lived a long, vibrant life, I still felt sad today, knowing that we lost an incredible ambassador for science, whose empathy, curiosity, and resilience inspired me and countless others.

If rubber duckies are what it takes to apply pressure on Congress to protect #PublicHealth from RFK Jr., then so be it!

Hell, I'd gladly wear a duck suit if it would contribute to RFK Jr.'s resignation, impeachment, or removal.

Ducks or no, the scientific community must keep pushing.

If you saw a bunch of rubber ducks around Congress, you'd probably be curious enough to ask:

"What's up with the ducks?"

OR

"What the duck is going on?"

Let alone when you add a person in a duck suit into the mix.

On its face, rubber ducks are a little silly.

But they are much more eye-catching and memorable than yet another policy whitepaper.

(To be clear, those are important too!)

Putting on my #communications hat, to get your message across and start a dialogue in the Information Age, you often have to be willing to do things differently.

True creativity often takes some boldness! The Quack-O-Gram campaign represents that.

US public health and the scientific infrastructure are too important to entrust to such a uniquely unqualified partisan actor as HHS secretary.

This press conference is the latest and most appalling example of politics masquerading as science.

RFK Jr. even had the gall to state he is depoliticizing federal research while he continues to appoint political actors to positions and seize decision-making power from career scientists.

The RFK Jr. experiment as HHS secretary has run long enough.

In a short time, he has made a slew of poor decisions, directed highly politicized #SciencePolicy moves, and shared unsubstantiated opinions that collectively damage US public health policy.

🦆 QUACK! 🦆 QUACK! 🦆 QUACK! Now, THIS is a great campaign.

@standupforscience.bsky.social, led by @cdelawalla.bsky.social, began delivering "Quack-O-Grams" to Congress this past week. The message is simple: Impeach "the Quack," Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

I don’t blame you.

On top of the harm the policies cause, a lack of transparency or rigorous evidence in health policy decisions creates uncertainty that frays the social contract.

For what it’s worth, it helps me to remember that the people who make up the sci/med communities are still out there!
c-j-fisher.bsky.social
RFK Jr. is a woeful, embarrassing HHS secretary, and the Senate should never have confirmed him.

It's well past time he resigns or is removed from the position.

🌅 Optimism & Calm

Talking with your peers is one of the best ways to empower each other.

Though there's a lot to be concerned about, finding community provides room to manifest optimism and maintain calm.

We can and will navigate this.
