i saw somebody down there that said that all of america is "extremely poor" so we're not dealing with people who live in reality (another one of the pet peeves of will stancil thought)

I’m convinced that Laurene Powell Jobs hates him so much that she is willing to pay him and publish his work in order to watch him get dunked on and made fun of every couple months. There’s no other reasonable explanation.

Most of the cities on that list had a lot more people in 1960. Chicago is down over a million people since those days.

I don’t think the ends justify the means but Bukele’s 90+ percent approval rating in El Salvador is very real.

Packers have been playing 15 on 11 my entire fucking life. They ended Jim McMahon’s career. I’m supposed to feel bad about this??

I’ve seen the replay like a half dozen times. I haven’t any idea how anybody thinks it’s dirty.

The Chicago suburbs have become such an outlier of liberal politics compared to other big american cities.

I'm blowing off my job so I'm not going to do too much research but I bet if you paired that graph with capital investment and health care expenditures as a percentage of GDP, the combined line would be pretty steady. labor share goes down but labor cost is steady.
December 18, 2025 at 4:38 PM
of course they are. productivity gains are being eked out by capital investment, not labor productivity gains. the cost of my labor to my employer is going up faster than my gross salary in the cost of my tools and my health insurance.

glad to see the PE model of offering kids conditional job offers is spreading to other shitty industries.

problem is all emotional. I deserve my raise. I'm being ripped off when prices go up. generally people don't realize that your raise and the price of eggs going up is, economically, the exact same phenomenon.
December 18, 2025 at 4:20 PM
hence why we look at real wages and prices over time. if I receive a raise that is 20 percent and inflation is 17 percent, then even though inflation is off the rails and my grocery bill is surging, I am making more money than I did before.
December 18, 2025 at 4:19 PM
Inflation is an effect, not a cause. It can become a circular phenomenon where the expectation of higher prices drives inflation but at its most basic, inflation is just that it costs $x+y of nominal dollars to buy what was $x last year, whether that's eggs, rent, or the COLA raise you received.

Did we learn nothing from the reasons for dismantling LBJ’s Great Society reforms? Progressive inflation hawks 🤝 Ronald Reagan
