This is the perfect visual metaphor for the way that General Motors has honored the warranty on our Chevy Volt battery. We took the car in to get a replacement in JANUARY. 10 months later, still no sign of getting our refurbished battery. We finally broke down a month ago and requested a buy back…

I’m doing this to remind myself of the beauty that language can convey. So many of the words I encounter on the daily are telling me awful things that are happening over which I have limited control. Memorizing a poem feels like a worthy act of self-care right now.

This is the utterly predictable and infuriating consequence of rapid fire deportation and imprisonment in a country abroad as spectacle. A wife has been robbed of her husband. A five year-old son is without his father. And the US government say they can’t get him back. Horrifying.

What makes this new administration so difficult to bear is stories like this one. Anyone with half a memory should recall that during the 2024 election, right wing propagandists swooped into storm ravaged areas with claims that FEMA under Biden had neglected these communities. Look at them now.
