The best engineers take the feedback in stride, make the right changes, and move on. If they dig their heels in about it then maybe they should do 6 months of support to understand how their design choices impact end users.

Agreed, unless there is a compelling reason for hiding UI elements like this, the mechanism through which settings are accessed should always be visible.

That said, if the day comes that I get pushed out by AI my consultancy fee will be steep because when the plane crashes they will need people to put out the fire and "vibe coders" aren't going to be the answer.

What these executives don't understand is that they aren't just paying for people who are writing code. They are paying for people who know how to fix that code when something inevitably goes wrong. Programming is more than coding, there is expertise that is needed.
