2nd round of larger crocuses and a few bright blue squills are brightening up the brown garden beds!

Horrible phone photo of FOY butterfly! A dark late summer Comma, just waking up after hibernating.

THESE. WTF.

New to my house. They’ve joined box elder bugs and Japanese beetles. 😡

Brown marmorated stink bugs arrived in Minn in 2010. Google says they like fruit, weird - no fruit trees.

In related fun news, UMN/MDAlooking at biological control: non-native wasp. Have we learned nothing? 🌿🪲

Friday, people running around in shorts and tank tops.
Yesterday, put away my extension cords for my heated bird baths.

Snowed this morning.

Birds chipping away at ice. Squirrels skating.

Love how crocuses seem to magically appear overnight.

Don’t love that this is by far the earliest they have appeared- at least since ‘14. (Next earliest 3/26/21) Need to go thru my 2003-2013 phenology records, but since ‘14 this is earliest bloom. 🌱🌿

Heard FOY American Woodcock in my yard Monday evening! Love their unique sound. Have to check my phenology, but might be earliest date.

Hello spring migration!

Photo is of one found in our owl nets last fall.

The heat bubble is real and has reared its ugly head on this incredible record-breaking warm day.

When I left work earlier it was 57F, home is 10 degrees cooler.

I live 15 minutes from downtown and 1.5 miles from the heat bubble drop-off.

Dreading the day it envelops my community. 🔥🌎

Fluke, climate change, world on fire… call it what you will, but I think we can all agree this is not normal and sad to see.
