Give me Souls-Like/punishing combat but in a world that doesn’t feel so thematically oppressing. I enjoy the combat, but I don’t always need the atmosphere.
Although it doesn’t fit the niche exactly, I think Monster Hunter strikes a pretty good balance. Wilds can’t come soon enough.

If an offense needs five yards to get a first down, we shouldn’t be playing 10+ yards off the receiver. Why is this hard?
