Update for #WIPWednesday: after this post, I got some motivation to sort out the swatch and start the sheep socks. Now I have one mostly done and the other almost ready for the heel. Not sure how much of CC2 I’ll have left for cuffs, so I’m waiting to finish them two at a time. #knitsky

#knitsky #ShowMeYourKnits: Some hats I donated to the U.S. National Center on Shaken Baby Syndrome circa 2015. Their Period of PURPLE Crying program educates new parents on normal increased infant crying. For years they accepted handmade purple hats to distribute with the materials.

The image on the album cover comes from a 15th century Ethiopian manuscript of Christian iconography. Scholars have labeled it a depiction of St. George. It's in the Peabody Essex Museum's African art collection, artist uncredited.

My bff got this tiny wooden frog percussion instrument ('güiro' in Spanish) for me in Thailand when we were teens. I think of them every time I play it for sound cleansing, especially on Imbolc.

An unfinished handknit bag made of coarse aran-weight yarn lies flat on a neutral background. I started this bag to #stashbust some Noro Kureyon that I inherited. Yarn is held double and bag will be felted (fulled) at the end. I realized partway through that I really needed four skeins when I only had three. I've been improvising with the last skein by breaking off each color run and folding it in half. One strap is supposed to be longer than the other so I think I can switch to the smaller strap, finish it, then return to the longer strap and go until I'm out of yarn. While both yarns are categorized as fingering weight, the teal is a smooshy luxury blend and the white is a basic workhorse blend. The white is noticeably finer and I'm having a hard time adjusting my tension so the sheep stitches stand out against the background stitches. I feel dumb for having tried to compensate the price of one with the other at the expense of my knitting pleasure. Also, I'm knitting the smallest sock size, yet it looks like it might still be too big for my skinny-ass feet. I am usually a hotshot when it comes to modifying patterns; it would just be a really nice break not to have to modify this one. A clothes hanger held up against a neutral background with two hanks of yarn draped around the neck. One is DK weight in a bright salmon pink. The other is fingering weight, variegated with green, blue, and gray tones. Both yarns show the telltale crinkly texture of having been previously knit up. I frogged the piece that both of these yarns were in - despite loving it, I never wore it. I already have new patterns chosen for each yarn. I just want to soak and hang the hanks to relax the crinkles before winding up into cakes. And that feels like absurdly more work than I know it would actually be. So I continue to procrastinate. An unblocked lace shawl lies spread out on a neutral background. It is approximately three quarters of a circle in wingspan shape. The colors are vaguely blue and purple, and the lace emulates the feathers of a peacock tail fan. This shawl has been sitting unblocked for over a year. It's the biggest shawl I've ever knit - final wingspan is supposed to be about 7 feet / 2 meters - so even with my gridded mats, blocking will be a CHORE. To complicate matters, I found a snag that happened while the shawl was draped over some furniture. So now I need to figure out how to mend it before I've even blocked it, and I'm really sad.
