Last week AB 470 died in the Senate—a huge win for CA communities! The bill would have let AT&T walk away from providing landline services that many residents rely on. Big thanks to the Senate Appropriations Committee & Senate Pro Tem Mike McGuire for standing with us!

"...by selectively choosing where to offer service, AT&T would engage in corporate abandonment that puts lives, livelihoods and entire communities at risk."

AB 470 is not a telco modernization bill. It’s deregulation wrapped in equity rhetoric. It weakens consumer protections, abandons oversight, and leaves communities disconnected. That’s not progress. That’s privatization. #StopAB470 #CALeg #CAAssembly

#AB470 serves corporate, telecom interests, NOT community interests. Maintain critical consumer protections for phone connectivity in CA. #CALeg #CAAssembly OPPOSE AB 470!

CA has the third-highest cost of living in the nation & internet costs an average of $95/mo! 🛜 That’s why NextGen is advocating w/ #DigitalEquityLA & @cadigitalequity.bsky.social that #CALeg take action to pass #AB353 & #AB1271 for broadband affordability & consumer protections.
