they/them, passionate and strong opinioned about game design
they did make some... questionable recommendations, mainly in Summertime Saga, a game that makes so little new content that they have LOST more content than they've added in the last like, 7-8 years. Other than that its mostly good ones

Got any recommendations for ones you liked? I've noticed this trend too - lots of TDs can be fun enough, but the majority of the gameplay boils down to, as you said, both in and out of level progression, which is fun but shouldn't be the sole motivator of mastery.

Extremely this. Kbash's early stuff definitely falls into white boy gamer raging performatively (something he acknowledges himself these days) but for the past handful of years, his work has been so thoughtful, so willing to give games the time of day when NO ONE else would. He's really great.

You're kind of entirely missing the point. I would rather stop engaging in the content of a company using AI entirely then play just one game because promise they definitely won't use it for this one specific game. The use of it at all, in any work, delegitimizes the entire company.

plus the new TSO stuff which I don't know much about really but Pav summarized it further down the thread.

Last few months have been a repeated destruction of brand trust, mostly due to hussie using proxy people to emotionally manipulate, and then legally threaten when that didn't work, the creators of the Unofficial Collection into giving them complete control over the project

Alternatively, just focus on an entirely different damage mitigation system. In terms of mechanics, my favorite from soft game will probably always be Sekiro. It just feels that good, and dodging is almost never what you want to be doing.

by allowing you to roll constantly, it de-emphasizes the importance of positioning that was really important in Dark Souls 1 and 2. If an enemy is sending a flurry of attacks at you, just roll. Sometimes it needs a rhythm, but often you can just kind of do it over and over. It's too stamina generous

I think the big problem is dodge spam, mostly. Rolling is much less of a problem before dark souls 3 because it's weaker and much harder to get a fast roll. You have to wear p light armor just to get a medium roll without significant stat investment, and even then they aren't spammy like in 3

The series just isn't about Finn anymore. I'm fine with that. He had an entire, very long series about him. Now the franchise is focusing on other things

Fionna and Cakes world became a bonified universe of its own in setting, and characters from it and original Adventure Time occasionally intersect due to the ongoing themes of Simon, Magic, and alternate universes

Instead, people encounter friction in a competitive game, immediately go to fucking twitter to bitch at the devs, the devs then nuke something into the ground, and the game and players are worse for it because they don't just learn counterplay. I hate it. it sucks it sucks it sucks

On one hand, god having to get a whole ass new game that was just an iterated version of the last? Sucks complete ass. Only ever got away with it before due to tradition dating back to before the internet.

But GOD. PLEASE. Two updates a year. at most. People need to learn to adapt to a meta

the ONLY reason we didn't get rid of the penny until now it's because for some reason people got really sentimental about it. Transactions will simply change, just like they did when we decommissioned the half penny.
November 14, 2025 at 9:06 PM
not a real problem, tbh. It's pretty normal to phase out small denominations of currency once they no longer have meaningful buying power, and the US has done it multiple times already. The actually strange thing is that the penny should have been decommissioned decades ago

it really takes a sledgehammer to a series for which atmosphere and tone are so integral to the identity of the series. I can only pray he Mostly disappears after the first 30 minutes

im a blight town truther. Not only is blight town enjoyable, it's good game design. None of it is bad. Except fighting flies, which is just a janky mechanical failure. everything else? that's good game baby.

After Wild World, villagers started getting programmed to be more and more as templates than as individual characters with their own traits. It gets worse with every game. Your best shot at getting what you're looking for there is wild world or city Folk

brother aint no movement shooter players that want to lower the skill ceiling. the skill ceiling is the entire appeal

I mean they're all techbro chuds who desperately wish the sensitive left would stop bothering them about their repeated bad behavior. They are only marginally less bad than Musk, and thankfully, not THAT wealthy.

i LOVE gauntlet fights, when done well. All the great bosses in the world can still get a little exhausting, gauntlets provide a meaningful challenge (often more than some bosses) while being a very different kind of challenge, and breaking up the gameplay variety beautifully. high halls my beloved

I think they did it this way bc... Mel just isn't the redeeming type. shes resentful, vengeful, and judgmental. she would never make that choice. Zag, though a big grudge holder, has much more heart, and the proactivity to try.

hey now, Nintendo doesn't actually Sue other game companies all that often. They actually spend their time suing their fans making fan games for free and actively trying to kill the game preservation scene by destroying emulators. Arguably even worse!

Those same traits are still extant in his Delta rune version, though slightly more muted. He cares about people possibly more than anyone, but he's too much of a coward to ever truly help people

Thats what makes him a good character. Hes a good friend, a compassionate soul, and a great appreciator of the value of life. And he's so convicted to those values that he puts generations of his own people through lifetimes of suffering just so he doesn't have to take further sin upon his shoulders
