Yep, I’ve also worked with many autistic and AuDHD folk who just wanted to wait a little longer before getting their license for a variety of reasons (and several who have no issue driving). It’s frustrating that some people doing the assessments use driving as a rule out/rule in criteria.

I’ve also heard “you went to a good high school and they would have caught it”, “you can drive a car so you aren’t autistic” and “you’ve gotten a graduate degree so you can’t be autistic”

Amen. I cannot understand why they aren’t shouting from the rooftops and demanding answers. It should be in everyone’s face, impossible to ignore and rewrite.
