Today, SB 627 & SB 805 passed the Asm. Public Safety Committee. These bills which will prohibit officers from wearing masks & ensure they are displaying identification, are part of the proposed expedited immigration package that will provide additional protections for our immigrant communities.

As the Latino Caucus, we urge the Supreme Court to uphold the 14th amendment as this case moves forward and to reject the idea that anyone—including the President can single-handedly undermine and alter our Constitution.

While this decision does not rule on the constitutionality of Trump’s birthright citizenship executive order, it is extremely concerning.
