The Haar by @paperbacksandpugs.bsky.social is really everything I want out of a horror novel. Thoughtful, incredibly human, and downright disgusting.
It’s so far my favorite read of the year and one I’ll likely be talking about for some years to come.

I have been DNFing books like a motherfucker this year, and this is my gentle encouragement for you to quit books the same way. Reading should be fun! Don’t kill the joy because you’re forcing yourself through something you don’t vibe with.

Am I the only book lover who doesn’t ask for books for Christmas? I generally don’t trust other people to buy books to my taste, and I love the dopamine hit of getting a book myself.

My goal next year is to focus (mostly) on indie authors (both self-publishing and indie presses). I’m working on a TBR in my free time, but if anyone has any recs send them my way! I’m into grimdark fantasy, space operas, horror and the like.

I’m going to wrap up my reading year by reading Golden Son and Morningstar by Pierce Brown. Started Golden Son last night and I already need to remind myself of all the names.
