Anyway, if you want to help ppl keep their neighbors afloat and get legal representation for ppl in immigrant court, here's a link I can vouch 1000% for. It was set up by the partner of my friend.

She says the Latin supermarkets are full of white ppl taking pictures of products with their phones and waiting for texts cuz they’re shopping for neighbors.

I recall the coverage of how bot farms work on Twitter, where they establish a few thousand accounts and then activate them all to like and comment on each others' posts to drum up a sense of validity of whatever scam is being sold. Maybe it's a sleeper cell

Fraser responds again: newleftreview.org/issues/i223/...

She fleshes this out more in "Social justice in the age of identity politics: redistribution, recognition, participation"
Nancy Fraser, A Rejoinder to Iris Young, NLR I/223, May–June 1997
Iris Young and I seem to inhabit different worlds. In her world, there are no divisions between the social Left and the cultural Left. Proponents of cultural politics work cooperatively with proponent...

There are many articles back and forth. One reason it's interesting is because they're sort of talking past each other.

Fraser's first is the link blurbed below, which she develops more in a couple pieces in the period.
Recognition or Redistribution? A Critical Reading of Iris Young's Justice and the Politics of Difference*

I think Fraser is right to criticize Young's schema of the "five faces" of oppression as undertheorized and ad hoc, and it's funny that she responds to accusations of dualism by quipping that Young seems to be a "brazen pentagonist, an ominously militarist stance"

Basically, everything in Back to the Future II has happened except flying cars

Yeah, I’ve done that and they’ve been apologetic while making clear that they aren’t willing to take much action. I’m just whining here

💯
I’m off topic but my guy quotes Lorde’s description of a racist woman on the bus smelling like cleaning supplies as evidence that Lorde was disgusted by the working class. But with zero awareness that Lorde‘s mother herself worked as a hotel cleaner. Just making up Lorde as someone to get mad at.

There’s a poetry guy at Kent who may or may not have a similar background, who has a whole chapter in his book shitting on Audre Lorde for supposedly not being working class or “political” enough. It’s insufferable and shit scholarship but pushes my buttons

Wow, this looks fascinating!

Oh yeah, no doubt he says these things, but it just felt on the nose on a fake way. But everyone seems to be covering it, so I guess it is real 🤷‍♂️

this can't possibly be real

I think all people cosplaying as fascists are fascists tho
January 18, 2026 at 9:15 PM
Except I’d argue that the two are indistinguishable. The cosplaying is an integral part of the practice
