➡️ To protect nearby communities if another break occurs, crews are creating openings in the Montgomery Boulevard flood berm and installing temporary barriers along the Bow River Pathway so any unexpected water can safely flow toward the river reducing impact to homes and businesses.

➡️ Our focus remains on restoring service as quickly and safely as possible. If all goes according to plan, 16 Avenue is expected to reopen mid to late next week.

➡️ Once the pipe is full, the water will be tested to ensure it’s safe to drink, then the system will be stabilized before we can begin easing out of water restrictions.

➡️ We’re slowly refilling the feeder main which will take several days as it’s seven kilometres of pipe. This water is coming from the Bearspaw Plant and Bow River, not the Glenmore Reservoir, so it doesn’t affect daily usage targets.

🛣️Road Closures
A single eastbound lane on 16 Ave N.W. east of Sarcee Trail is open, along with access to 16th Avenue from Sarcee Trail.

Work to repair the roadway has begun, paving will begin over the weekend. Westbound lanes remain closed for repairs.

Crews have begun slowly filling the repaired pipe with water & are in the process of restoring service which is a multi-day process involving filling the pipe, testing the water and ensuring the system is stable.

The first phase of filling the pipe is approx. 75%

▪️ Backfilling of the area around the pipe continued.

We are still experiencing a strain on our distribution system, limiting our ability to produce treated water, refill underground reservoirs overnight and move water to everyone. We continue to ask Calgarians & businesses to take action to reduce their water consumption.
