They spent 60 years making sure that their voterbase is as gullible and uninformed as possible, and expanded that base by slashing any sort of education and critical thinking not to mention by instilling wariness to-and aversion of-expertise; what they bizarrely call "elites"., And they are fleecing that self-raised flock of easy marks for all they're worth. Because they can. And when use the Word "fleecing" don't just mean the typical swindlers who sell survival buckets, pay-for-prayers, "male enhancers" and fake jewelry on conservative and religious media nor do I just mean the constant calls for political donations that are then used for private matters. It's far worse; they've been made to believe in a constructed world that is entirely opposed to reality, a world full of streetgangs, satanists, gays, muslims, jews, cartels, vegetarians, transfolk, hippies, communists, feminists, blacks, atheists, teachers, etc who are out to get them and their way of life, and must be feared/fought. It's convinced them to vote against their own interests just to fuck over The Other in the process. From labour protections, to representative government, to economic freedom, to education, to consumer protections, to healthcare, to civil/human rights, to privacy rights and environmental protections, they've trashed them all in favour of hurting others, and smiled proudly as they were doing it. Both Corporate America (which has loyalty to no nation) as well as America's political enemies (who wished to weaken it) actively worked towards that goal, and these days they must be laughing themselves to sleep every night. The USA has been walking backwards for decades while the rest of the Western world moved forward. It was once a beacon to the free world, and it is frustrating to watch its fall from grace because you know what could have been."
