The Norquist amendment: any President who claims control over the entire federal government is to be drowned in a bathtub

They will surely argue that while *his camera* captured her turning the wheel, that doesn't mean that he was looking in that direction at the time

It seems like the "serious injury" was from the *previous* time he attacked a driver

"Users are doing that? Oh, that's terrible. That's obviously a mistake. That was never supposed to be free"

More worried about crooked prosecutors attaching double jeopardy through intentionally flawed prosecutions, or deals where they plead to a non violent misdemeanor and face a $1 fine.

And there is always the option of a blanket pardon.

Republicans have run for 15 years and counting on "repeal and replace" and still haven't come up with a plan for "replace".

Voters will support a bold slogan, confidently sold.

It doesn't even need an alternative proposal! Return the core functions back to the agencies that had them pre-ICE. Eliminate the rest.

By having top officials consistently lauding this as a proper shooting by a hero bravely defending the homeland and Trump's policies, they make it easier for his lawyers to argue that no fair trial is possible.

The officer strolling around doesn't look like he would need to be "recovering in the hospital" as Trump claimed. Are there updates about any injuries he sustained?

This makes a lot of sense if you consider it as a pack hunting scenario. The predators have tunnel vision on the prey, with the luxury of tuning out the others circling around them, while the prey must take in all available information in a desperate attempt to calculate the best route to safety

I suspect that they're afraid that if the shift the focus to something other than affordability, Trump will say "see, I told you affordability was just a hoax"

But even if Trump did have the attention span to make that case, the people who would nod along aren't voting for Dems anyway
January 8, 2026 at 4:13 AM
The worst part of it is that affordability *isn't* the most important issue. If Trump declared himself god-king and ordered all retailers to cut prices by 50% or pay him personally 3000% taxes, would they shrug and say "well, I gotta hand it to him, he delivered on the lower prices"?
January 8, 2026 at 4:09 AM
This is not a moment where hopes are high.

But it could always be announced as a conditions-based boycott.
January 8, 2026 at 1:56 AM
And when one draws a weapon, they are all suddenly placed at much greater risk. Maybe they all have tunnel vision on the target and don't even notice the others around them, but it seems like something fellow officers would want to put a stop to as well.
