I’m sure the founding fathers weren’t visualising semi-automatics

A lot of unis are embracing ai. My daughters have assessments where ai is prescribed and also there can be ai used in most assessments - cited, references, acknowledged, validated. They are studying medical science.

They are going to have a lot to remember. Hopefully they’ll get to use ai and factcheck it - Sydney uni now are doing a wonderful job of integrating ai into the curriculum, but it would be almost impossible to auto-finish these posts as there’s so much contradiction.

I hated mumps. I had ‘all things’ in a welsh mining community. houses were close, lots of colds and not enough hankies. Anecdotally most recovered but not all. I was thinking about whether the numbers were representative but I can’t recall enough. Meningitis was fairly common but serious.

I’m tired watching you!!! So much going on

I remember having measles, I felt the sickest I ever felt. It was “going around”. The local Dr visited and shouted at me for a few minutes for my Mum doing a call-out. He said what do you expect me to do :)

That’s a bit harsh since it was voted for in a referendum. Not that I thought it was possible to be too harsh on Boris Johnson

Yes, that’s fine. This is an interesting topic and my daughter is now majoring in immunology so it will give us a topic to discuss :)

And the issue is that the channels to get alternate info are usually non-scientific, anti-vax. I’d like to see each individual vaccine but it’s not an easy fix as clearer data would discourage vaccination and diminish the ‘group effectiveness’

It’s a pity, I completed the survey but it didn’t have a “no option matches my circumstance” option.
I don’t think that the info available is complete and it’s ridiculously difficult to lodge a vaccine reaction, skewing the data. My kids are vaccinated but one did have an adverse outcome.

To me woke is another way of saying ‘considerate of others”. I’m very proudly woke. That’s not something that I remember about Maggie thatcher

I agree, that’s the thick top layer of an unpleasant tasting cake.

I also think that is why populist politics is gaining strength across the world because we don’t engage in and understand what concerns people have. For me, we have privilege and education so we can take the high ground but it’s not an absolute.

Ok we can agree to disagree on this. I think many people who protest are racist. I don’t think that the argument is. I worry that we dismiss arguments that we disagree with as racist, but the argument is broader.
April 25, 2025 at 1:38 PM
Not this article specifically but listening more to why people object. It’s not racism, although I also think it’s a “crap” argument given we have a huge equity gap :)

Word count kills me. There’s some interesting debate going on re this: 7news.com.au/sport/rugby-...

I hadn’t heard the anti-welcome argument but it is well formed although not something I agree with. It’s interesting to explore though.

the nrl? two viewpoints. To me it’s building our culture, coalescing shared history into a single view. the welcome is important to me - it’s part of being Australian. My husband disagrees seeing it as divisive. booing on Anzac Day is vile but when the Welcome is appropriate is a discussion

My daughter is just finishing her undergrad med science. Has planned to do an honors year overseas. Last night we crossed it out on her plan and replaced with Germany.

I listened to the Rogan/Musk 2025 podcast today. It’s interesting, the difference, since their first sit down interview around 2 years ago. I’m sure that someone suitably qualified could identify possible causes.

I don’t think that is the binary. Ukraine cannot hold out without the US and Europe(with Uk) is unlikely to be able to provide adequate security.
