Several hours later I am strongly believing that link tree is a terrible company and I’m really regretting giving them any money

I am having a delightful aesthetic experience watching the soap operas but the politics inside the stories are just terrible. I just watched an epic heroic tail that was basically justifying insider trading. Also the epic ideal ending was becoming a trillionaire. Yikes!

So the sound choices for these Chinese soap operas are thick. And referential but I’m not always familiar with what they’re referencing. Like they’ll be a certain animal noise or song choice that i know must be iconic but I’m ignorant to the deeper meaning. But repetition is helping me learn

In one episode of a show I might hear a musical beat that is literally from sex and the city, another sound escape that is referencing Scrubs, then the same song they play behind every romantic scene in all the different shows they make. It’s barely cohesive but highly communicative

So I’m watching a show about a character who’s been reborn so they have a bunch of information no one else has. The musical Sting in this scene is a riff from Stephen Moffett‘s Sherlock. It’s iconic it’s meaningful and it works. The choices are a little hip-hop because it’s communicating by sample

I’ve been fascinated by the realization that certain markets are not concerned about copyright issues and ownership of IP which expands the creative choices they get to make. And these Chinese soap operas they’re using musical stings and beats fully ripped from other TV shows

I enjoy watching media that uses different tropes than those used in the United States. So I like that somebody will spit out blood if they feelings get hurt enough or if they realize in the fundamental way that they have lost. I like it every time it happens.

My favorite transmigration story has the main character having medical skills and showing up when ancient China is suffering through a plague and introducing them to the super technology of wearing masks! It has been a recurring plot line in seven or eight different dramas I’ve watched so far.
