One of my most cynical takes on the world right now: we can’t have good role models anymore because the vast majority of people refuse to elevate virtuous people. If you keep putting shitty people on a pedestal, you never have to feel bad about yourself for all of your own shortcomings.

Seeing tariff surcharges on several of my recent purchases made me wonder if up until this point I had only ever subconsciously cared to follow political news for entertainment value.

For once, being directly affected by a government's decision makes me reevaluate why I follow the news.

We have become more peaceful over time as our toilet technology has improved. Of course people were more violent back in the day: they were having to wipe with leaves or hay or whatever before toilet paper came along.
