I am in the countryside and it's torrential rain out and I'm surrounded by homemade wine and cider. This house still requires firewood in order to stay warm. There was really no way around this

Seriously. This film might be single-handedly reigniting my desire to run Mythic Bastionland

arch-surrealist spy fiction possibly my favourite kind of spy fiction

damn near blasted my brain outa my damn skull, just like every other Cattet & Forzani joint thus far. Delicious chaos. DANGER: DIABOLIK and James Bond as filtered through hefty maddening doses of giallo, Moorcock's The Final Programme, KILL BILL(!?) and a whole lot of burning celluloid.

Soavi tends to make movies that line up with dream/nightmare logic, I'm not at all surprised that it could have an unintentional soporific effect tbh

question, why do I find a fog-bound dank cemetery to be such a cozy setting, what is fundamentally broken within me
December 4, 2025 at 10:27 PM
I too would choose to remain in a haunted cemetery if it meant having a steady job and a roof over my head

there's a man who can't help but talk about potsherds

obviously a lot more to the books than Erikson's clear influences from archaeology but boy does that stuff hit

would it be weird to say that reading parts of the Malazan Book of the Fallen series carries a similar feeling to watching random episodes of Time Team, possibly a major contributor to my enjoyment of the novels so far

I fear I will have taken on various apple-like properties come January
December 4, 2025 at 8:45 PM
for those keeping track at home, we have barely made a dent in the cider and apple wine haul from this past Autumn, we're so stocked-up with apple-related products it's ridiculous
