I agree! It helps the character look more visually interesting and fills in negative space. With canid designs The face is always so floofy and its difficult for me to connect pieces in an interesting way. So the mane helps and can probably save my ass when I dont know how to connect other pieces

A lot of my issues come from not knowing how to connect certain parts. Primarily the neck and the hips. Often times it always feels like something is missing or theres a lot of negative space. Studied some designs from Woofia and I really like the manes they give wolves so I decided to try adding it

Im more than likely scrapping some of the ideas from the left wip, but adore how I drew the face. Decided to use it as a base, and make it a bit more fluffy. My issues with the original is that I didnt really get the anatomy I was going for. So I need to just go back and sketch to better understand
