Our latest application note, drumroll please, is on precision cut liver slices (PCLS)!

Many thanks to Dr Ben Leaker for giving us insights into the how and why PCLS are a useful tool!

If you are interested you can read the full application note here: campdeninstruments.com/downloads/ap...

We're detoxing our feed with a new application note featuring a sample type we don't usually discuss.

Can you guess what sample has been sectioned and what the application note is about from these fluorescent microscopy images?

Comment your guess and see if you were right: ow.ly/2J9c50WYajn

Today is World Brain Day, a day that we at Campden prioritise! The day aims to highlight how important the brain is in overall health and increase understanding of disorders. This year's theme is brain health for all ages, demonstrating that disorders can occur to the brain at all stages of life.

Last week we highlighted the final quality checks taking place on the first batch of the 9000SMZ vibrating microtomes, and today we are hitting another major milestone: the new models are being packed and prepared for shipping!

Before it begins entering labs all around the world, final quality control checks of the new 9000SMZ vibrating microtome must take place.

The last step in the process is to evaluate the z-axis deflection, which is crucial for good slices.

Next step is packaging!

If you need help mid-slicing, the built-in help function delivers guidance immediately.

And lastly, if you need help planning your day or knowing when you should probably change your blade, real-time slicing updates and blade change timers can help keep everything on schedule.
campdeninstruments.bsky.social
Besides an easy-to-use touchscreen, many elements have been added to the interface to improve the slicing experience and increase reproducibility.

So if you are new to the lab, the intuitive, user-friendly set-up will help you begin slicing right away.
campdeninstruments.bsky.social
Summer is here, so it is also time for summer students in the lab who need to learn lab tools quick! When designing the new interface and features of the new 9000SMZ vibratome, an easy-to-use interface was a priority.

Good morning @uclnpp.bsky.social! Campden is spending the day at the Neuroscience Symposium, and are eager to show off the new 9000SMZ vibrating microtome!

If you are at the event today, make sure to stop by, try out the new interface, and discover how the new model can produce great brain slices!
campdeninstruments.bsky.social
Want to get your hands on the new 9000SMZ vibrating microtome and learn more about all the new features? Well, all of those attending the @uclnpp.bsky.social Symposium this week can!
campdeninstruments.bsky.social
You wouldn’t use the same cutting technique for a crusty baguette and soft sponge cake, so why would biological tissue be any different?

To accommodate tissue variability and produce superior slices, our new 9000SMZ has the largest range of slicing parameters yet.

Does the rhyme "righty tighty, lefty loosey" live in your head rent-free when you screw in screws? Unfortunately, it doesn't apply to our left-hand screws needed to secure the blade to the holder.

To all of our vibratome users, check out this new rhyme, thanks to AI, to help avoid making mistakes!
Tips for securing blades to the blade holder: picture of the blade holder design on Campden Instruments vibratomes with arrows over the two screws that secure the blade. The left-handed thread screw must be twisted in a counter-clockwise direction which is different than standard screws.

To help people remember this we have come up with the following rhyme thanks to AI:
Left screw has a backward thread-
Turn it wrong, you'll strip it dead.
Tight is counterclockwise there-
so, twist with care, and be aware!
