Excited to read them and want to pickup a physical copy - is it better for authors for readers to buy straight from your distributor?

The a ‘loss is a loss’ people are so exhausting. Even if she ends up losing by 10 points, go apply a +12 swing across the board and see how many districts were decided by a smaller margin, ya know, ones that don’t have the demographics of rural Tennessee

The fact that we are even following a race in western Tennessee in a Trump +22 district and seeing folks be like YEAH WELL SHES NOT GONNA WIN. That’s probably true but I wouldn’t be too psyched about a 10+ swing in a deep red state and double digit losses less than a month ago

When someone starts talking about faking a disability to get accommodations is exactly when I know that person has never gone through, or even read about, the process to make the case, and sometimes fail to make the case on multiple attempts, to request such accommodations.

Gonna show my age on this one but at this point for GTA6 I feel like we’re gonna have to start awarding it the Duke Nukem Forever yearly vaporware award

Glad the media had the freak out after a bad performance on one artificial “debate” - the evidence is definitely not piling up that Joe Biden would’ve been significantly more capable of continuing to be president than the guy who can barely stay away but calls other people “sleepy”

Also let’s throw in some of these headlines; US Navy Veteran, former NASA Astronaut and current United States Senator Mark Kelly.

I thought these folks were all about respecting our veterans? Oh only if you agree with them, got it.

Our leaves are pretty much soaking wet from the moment they fall on the ground then they get covered in snow and disintegrate, but even when not would seem like fences, decking, dry grass etc would represent a similar or more substantial fire risk. The most I do is running a lawnmower over them

I honestly do not understand why people are so obsessed with getting rid of all of the leaves in the yard - I do not touch them and assume they work their way into the soil after winter or whatever

I also realized that what I said here also is not correct because I had forgotten that high school is “secondary” education and I had to search to figure out that the correct term here I guess would be “post-secondary education” which is quite a way around to saying “tertiary”

I wasn’t implying it wasn’t valid or was incorrect - only that, like lots of examples here, it doesn’t sound “normal” here because it isn’t something generally said in the United States

That is a good point though I’d for sure hear “I’m going to college” to mean “I’m pursuing secondary education”

this really made me think

“I need to go to the hospital” - it doesn’t matter which one I’m talking about because it’s shorthand for “I’m having a medical emergency”

Similarly - I would never hear “I’m going to university” without the name mentioned but ‘I’m going to a university’ would be ‘normal’

Some incredible details in this piece
*one DOGE faction was planning the future of the US government at a venture capital firm
*illegally communicating on Signal to avoid transparency laws was deeply embedded into organizational culture to be taken for granted

💯 - “I care deeply when others find fault in me but deflect genuine praise” is like the opposite of narcissism as I would understand it.

Figured narcissists would never accept criticism of themselves and have no introspection.

Seems like people just say stuff now regardless of its meaning

Love that he comes up with the absolute dumbest possible analogy as if people are choosing to live near fire hydrants … for the insurance savings

If I live near a farm do I get a discount for being in the vicinity of vegetables?

Forbes looks like they’re saving money on proofreaders or editors for the headlines

I get what you’re saying here - but I will say in my area this is not a common thing to say and I work in power generation
