Even though it’s a separate issue, the well publicized lack of due process against college men because of Title IX creates an atmosphere of skepticism around sexual assault allegations in general (unfortunately)

If you’re looking for a great new book to read, I recommend Dan Akst’s War by Other Means, a history of conscientious objectors during World War 2 and how two of them in particular (Bayard Rustin & David Dellinger) massively influenced the post-war civil-rights and anti-war movements.
