Even if you do not create/consume/like NSFW media you must speak up for SWs and NSFW creators b/c the criminalizing and banning of it is just another step towards fascism. It will be used to target minority groups, LGBT, etc. and anything deemed "unsanitary" or "degenerate".

like if anything when I look back on that book 20 years later, aside from being grateful it's still in print, I feel like it's charmingly old-fashioned in its way of thinking about the relationship between love and sex, and also in its full-throated embrace of an Afterlife and universal forgiveness.

It's weird that Looking for Alaska is the second-most banned book in the U.S., and mostly challenged by evangelical Christians, because the novel is about Radical Hope and how forgiveness is available to all people at all times, which are Christian concepts I wrote about because I'm a Christian.
